Yesterday, Gary Gygax died of his illness. His health had been ailing since 2004, and an abdominal aenurysm finally brought the great man down.

For people who don't know who Gygax was, none of this will mean anything at all to you. But anybody who's ever played D&D will remember him as one of the men who first made it all possible, spending years on developing the system alongside Dave Arneson, and founding the company TSR in order to publish the game.
Tabletop roleplaying has suffered a great loss.
